DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama
DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama is a conservatoire centre of excellence for performing arts education.
The Conservatory was founded in 1890, 63 years after Beethoven’s death. Today the Conservatory is one of the largest providers of music and drama education in Ireland, with around 1200 students.
The Conservatory of Music and Drama at Dublin Institute of Technology caters for the broadest range of performing arts disciplines in Ireland, with degree programmes in classical and Irish traditional music, composition, musicology, music education, jazz, opera, drama and (in association with our partner colleges) rock and pop music, and film scoring.
Our graduates go on to make successful careers and significant contributions in the performing arts and cultural industries, in Ireland and beyond.
In this recording, celebrating the 200th anniversary of the first publication of Beethoven’s Irish songs, we showcase the talents of our staff and students, and we commemorate the work of the late Tomás Ó Súilleabháin, an erstwhile pupil of the Municipal School of Music, as the Conservatory was formerly known.
